Some people think nutritionists work by restricting your diet to consume less foods, consume less fat, less carbs, less calories, events, birthdays, celebrations, socialising, less flavour, less fun, make hard choices and lose weight, right?
No, in a word, it doesn’t have to be like that.
A Registered Nutritionist, such as myself, is here to help improve your relationship with food, not limit it. Food is fun, food is exciting, food is fuel to enjoy life, its not the enemy……
So, who can be a nutritionist?
Anyone is able to call themselves a nutritionist, a nutritional therapist or a nutrition coach, it’s actually not a protected title, but registered nutritionists are fighting for it! People can call themselves a nutritionist after a short 2 week course. A ‘Registered Nutritionist’ however is protected. This means someone has completed a relevant qualification, such as a degree in nutrition or my Masters Degree in Nutrition and Behaviour, and registered with the Association of Nutrition as an ANutr, Associate Nutritionist.
My Role
My role is to translate all the science stuff and give you real life, evidence backed advice that suits you and your goals. It doesn’t need to get complicated, it needs to suit you, whether you’re a gym bunny, a busy working mummy or a non-cooking single looking to mingle.
I’m here to help you to enjoy what you eat, stop the diet cycle, and make healthy diet changes, personalised to you, that you can carry forward in your life.
I help clients to set goals, short and long term.
A bit about me
I had a very healthy childhood, born to parents living self sufficient with a dairy farm in the beautiful valleys of South Wales. My Mum and Dad, and both grandmas taught me to cook from a very early age, healthy homemade whole foods, very often home grown, so I lucky to get a good start in life. Sadly like most f us, life threw me some upsets, I began to comfort myself through food, and when old enough through alcohol and other things. My weight went up and up, and then down and up many times as I yoyo dieted throughout my late teens to early 30s. After having my son I decided to make changes for good, starting slowly and making realistic changes I could keep. I’ve never looked back!!
What can I do for you?
I can help you look at your current diet, see what works for you and what doesn’t, what goals you have and how these can be achieved. We can look at your physical and mental health, your personal preferences, personal circumstances and put together a tailored plan to suit you.
